Sad beyond words for the loss of Darren. Back in 1988 I was fortunate enough to spend a month with Darren as our house guest. A highlight of that month was a week long sailboat trip in the Canadian Gulf Islands with our family. Darren was our official bee killer . Bees swarmed the boat and we’re not wanted when we tied up on a dock. Darren was fearless and had the boat record of 52 bees down via kitchen towel snaps. I feel privileged hanging out with him that summer. Aunt Shirley (Camas, WA)

I was lucky enough to really get to spend time with Daren when he came to live with us over the summer many years ago. I’m not sure he knew what he was signing up for, a teenager spending most of his days humoring a 6 year old. But he was a good sport about it and I loved every minute of it. I’ll never forget riding our bikes to the city pool, watching his mastery of Rad Racer on the nintendo, and a vacation to the San Juan Islands with my mom’s extended family.
Daren was a great cousin and I will miss him dearly.
I just wanted to say that your entire family is on my mind right now, especially Lara, Luca, and Nico. Take care.

My amazing husband Darren died last Tuesday, surrounded by the love of his family. We spent 16 awesome years together, he was the most generous, caring, and clever man I've ever met. I fell in love with his sweet and reserved personality and his special sense of humour. Two years ago he was diagnosed with myeloma, a rare and aggressive blood cancer. He went through this painful and difficult journey never complaining about it, he was always brave and strong. He looked after me and our two lovely boys until the end, he was such a great man. My heart is broken, but I feel very lucky, because I was part of his life. He was my husband, the father of my children and my best friend. I'm so proud of him, and I will miss him every single day of my life. Goodbye, my Love! ❤️
